1. Remove ALL teflon tapes around the threads of shower arm;
2. Screw the hex nut into shower arm by hand firstly, then tighten it with included WRENCH until it cannot be moved.
You may have installed it incorrectly. The switch knob is always on the front instead of on the back. The hex nut should connect to shower arm, and the swivel ball joint should connect to main shower head.

I need to amend my previous review. The colors didn’t match up correctly so the diverter was backwards? Anyway it caused a different issue so we figured why not try the other direction (we originally didn’t think we could but the handheld direction was backwards but you can actually twist it – we thought it would break). Anyway – try switching it around (the spray options should face you). Now that we did that – wow!!!! EXCEPTIONALLY powerful shower. This was a fantastic buy!

Disappointed. Just bought off Amazon and the handheld cannot be used independently of the rain shower head. However, it is advertised as such. What a waste.
